Twilight Breeze

Twilight Breeze andy tallent piano

This song began as a melody line that wouldn't leave my head. As I sat at the piano and played it over and over (and over), the progression began to come together one melodic idea at a time. The song was named Twilight Breeze because of the tension in the song between the light relaxed main melody, with the soft pulses in the left hand representing the closing of the day, the peace of night settling in. As in Dylan Thomas' poem: Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, the peace of the melody meets the fighting "chorus" that is the ascending scale into a fight against the dying of the light. The song resolves into the peaceful beginning melody that gives in to the silence of the night.
